We are now looking for a municipal director who, with security, structure, and a forward-looking perspective, wants to lead the organization into the next phase of development. About the position

As the municipal director, you will lead a well-functioning organization with a strong culture, engaged employees, and good conditions. At the same time, the municipality faces important choices related to demographic development, investments, and skills supply. The assignment encompasses both stability and development – and requires leadership that creates direction, wholeness, and trust.

The municipal director is the highest official in the municipality and leads the combined administrative organization on behalf of the municipal executive board. You are responsible for ensuring that political decisions are implemented with high quality, efficiency, and legal certainty, as well as for the long-term and sustainable development of the municipality.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating the municipality's administrations with a cohesive, strategic perspective
• Being the manager of the municipality's administrative managers and the municipal executive board's managers, creating clarity, support, and good conditions for their leadership
• Ensuring good financial management, clear goals, priorities, and systematic follow-up
• Driving operational development, efficiency, and quality improvement
• Being a driving force in central development issues.
• Representing the municipality and developing collaboration locally, regionally, and nationally

The role also includes being the CEO of Stadshus AB.

A central part of the assignment is the close and trustful collaboration with the political leadership. You are a strategic and professional support to the municipal executive board's presidium and other political representatives, with the ability to create structure, clarity, and wholeness in complex issues and priorities.

Your background and profile

We are looking for a municipal director with a present, unpretentious, and trust-based leadership style. You combine warmth and responsiveness with clarity, structure, and decisiveness. You hold the organization together, strengthen collaboration across boundaries, and create a climate where managers and employees are given the conditions to succeed in their assignments.

You are visible in everyday life, take full managerial responsibility, and are comfortable handling both strategic and operational issues. The role requires high availability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant academic degree
• Several years of experience in a leading position in a politically governed organization, municipal experience is strongly meritorious
• Very good understanding of the interplay between politics and administration
• Experience in leading through other managers and developing management teams
• Good and applied understanding of financial management, investments, and priorities
• Experience or good understanding of the conditions in a smaller municipality

Meritorious is experience in inter-municipal collaboration, corporate governance, and good knowledge of the municipal sector.

As a person, you are communicative, relationship-building, and unpretentious with high integrity and good judgment. You are courageous and decisive, standing firm in decisions made while also being able to be responsive and flexible.
